Six Strategies to a Clutter-free Home

Hoarding belongs to a syndrome also including indecisiveness, perfectionism, procrastination, avoidance behaviors, and difficulty organizing tasks. While often associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder, it was found that OCD patients who also exhibit characteristics of hoarding are in far worse condition.

Gerald Nestadt, M.D., M.P.H, Director of the Johns Hopkins Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Clinic, suggests six anti-clutter strategies for compulsive hoarders:

  1. Decide on the fate of mails and newspapers as soon as possible.
  2. Reconsider ideas about buying or getting new stuff for your home.
  3. Schedule a daily 15-minute home decluttering period.
  4. Let go of belongings that you have not used in a year.
  5. Only handle it once (OHIO).
  6. Ask for assistance.

I am so impressed with the job that Gregg and Karen did for my aunt's home. Not only did they take the time to explain thorougly what they were going to do, but they did EXACTLY as they promised.

We never expected to get the sales price for the house that we ended up getting. If you had seen my aunt's home before they started, you would know why. By the time the job was done, the house looked totally transformed.

Needless to say... I highly recommend their services!
