Organized Hoarding

Hoarding disorder has been getting much attention lately. It has become the subject of TV shows, books, and has even become the focus of celebrity experts. Yet there are those who are into hoarding because they simply like to organize things.

There are people who are super organized and who like to keep so many things around as well. Can they be considered as suffering from hoarding disorder as well? Where does one draw the line between being organized and suffering from a disorder?

Here is a part of an article by Nancy Rubenstein for, “Hardly an addict to style, and happiest wearing a warm-up suit in which I literally warm up but perform no physical activity, I’m aware of the clutter factor that builds when I don’t weed out really unnecessary stuff and cluttered closets do make it harder to be organized.

At this point, I acknowledge that being a super organized saver can be as much of a negative as it can be a positive trait. While hoarding is viewed as an undesirable practice because it’s such a compulsive, obsessive activity, I’d like to think that keeping a lot of clothes, gadgets, books, magazines and other stuff for a day they may be really needed, can be considered always being prepared. I have a lot of “in case I need it” items. If I use just one “in case” every year, that justifies the junk….which I believe is very organized. “Maybe not.”

I am so impressed with the job that Gregg and Karen did for my aunt's home. Not only did they take the time to explain thorougly what they were going to do, but they did EXACTLY as they promised.

We never expected to get the sales price for the house that we ended up getting. If you had seen my aunt's home before they started, you would know why. By the time the job was done, the house looked totally transformed.

Needless to say... I highly recommend their services!
