Memoir on Hoarding ‘Mess’ Review

Book review columnist Terri Schlichenmeyer writes about her take on Barry Yourgrau’s memoir “Mess: One Man’s Struggle to Clean Up His House and His Act.” According to Schlichenmeyer, the novel, which circles around its writer’s endeavor to cope with hoarding and succeed in his home de-cluttering project, was initially very hard to follow, but turned around about halfway through when Yourgrau started to dig into the reasoning and psychology of the disorder.
