Hoarding Added to Diagnostic Guide

Hoarding, together with other behavioral disorders, has now been officially added on to the list of psychiatric disorders. The list is on a guide that’s used by psychiatrists and therapists all over the world for diagnosing the problems and conditions of their patients.

Asperger’s syndrome, which is one form of autism, was removed. The inclusion of hoarding is significant because psychiatrists rely on the list mainly to come up with the right sort of diagnosis for their patients.

Here is a part of an article that appeared on the Metronews.ca, “Hoarding and binge eating will be included as disorders. So will “disruptive mood dysregulation disorder,” characterized by persistent irritability in children and “frequent episodes of behaviour outbursts three or more times a week for more than a year,” according to the psychiatric association.

What ends up in the manual has huge implications for how physicians, researchers and others in the field identify and treat psychiatric conditions, said Dr. Benoit Mulsant, physician in chief at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and professor of psychiatry at University of Toronto.

It also sets the tone for developing disability services, special education and affects human rights and how society views criminal responsibility in the justice system, he said.”

I am so impressed with the job that Gregg and Karen did for my aunt's home. Not only did they take the time to explain thorougly what they were going to do, but they did EXACTLY as they promised.

We never expected to get the sales price for the house that we ended up getting. If you had seen my aunt's home before they started, you would know why. By the time the job was done, the house looked totally transformed.

Needless to say... I highly recommend their services!
