Signs and Symptoms of Hoarding

Signs and Symptoms of HoardingYou may think that your friend’s tendency to keep old and useless things may be due to her attachment to their sentimental value or maybe she’s just not the tidiest person you know. You notice things start to pile up, on counter tops, sinks, stoves, desks, stairways and virtually all other surfaces are usually stacked with stuff.

Before you assume this is just an organizing problem, you may want to examine if your friend has these signs and symptoms of a hoarder:
  • Cluttered living spaces
  • Inability to discard items
  • Keeping stacks of newspapers, magazines or junk mail
  • Moving items from one pile to another, without discarding anything
  • Acquiring unneeded or seemingly useless items, including trash or napkins from a restaurant
  • Difficulty managing daily activities, including procrastination and trouble making decisions
  • Difficulty organizing items
  • Shame or embarrassment
  • Excessive attachment to possessions, including discomfort letting others touch or borrow possessions
  • Limited or no social interactions

I am so impressed with the job that Gregg and Karen did for my aunt's home. Not only did they take the time to explain thorougly what they were going to do, but they did EXACTLY as they promised.

We never expected to get the sales price for the house that we ended up getting. If you had seen my aunt's home before they started, you would know why. By the time the job was done, the house looked totally transformed.

Needless to say... I highly recommend their services!
