Hoarding Can Be a Fire Threat

According to authorities, excessive accumulation of stuff can pose a significant threat not only to residents but also to firefighters who respond to an emergency. Studies show that around three to five percent of the population are compulsive hoarders and this fact must enable fire departments to become familiar with the issue and how to properly handle it.

Hoarding, which usually begins in early adolescence, can be a fire hazard. It also makes fighting fire and searching for occupants far more difficult.
