6 Tips to Dealing with Hoarding Disorder

Dr. Jack Samuels from theĀ Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine stated thatĀ Hoarding Disorder belongs to a syndrome which also includes indecisiveness, perfectionism, procrastination, avoidance behaviors, and difficulty organizing tasks. To help patients deal with their condition, here are 6 tips:

  1. Decide what to do with mails and newspapers as soon as you’re done reading them.
  2. Think twice before purchasing a new item for your home.
  3. Set aside time, at least 15 minutes/day, to de-clutter.
  4. Get rid of belongings that you haven’t used for a year.
  5. Remember the Only Handle It Once (OHIO) rule.
  6. Ask for help from loved ones and professionals.

I am so impressed with the job that Gregg and Karen did for my aunt's home. Not only did they take the time to explain thorougly what they were going to do, but they did EXACTLY as they promised.

We never expected to get the sales price for the house that we ended up getting. If you had seen my aunt's home before they started, you would know why. By the time the job was done, the house looked totally transformed.

Needless to say... I highly recommend their services!
